Second Language Instructor - DC
General Purpose
Responsible for the planning and execution of second language instruction and computer training programs at the DC, for hourly and exempt associates. This position will design instructional curriculum and facilitate class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet Ross Stores, Inc. goals, along with the development of training processes, activities, and related materials that support lesson objectives. The position would also be responsible for supporting the needs of the training department.
Essential Functions
- Captures and grades associate's evaluations and quizzes
- Creates classroom handouts, activities, and extra material to help with classroom learning
- Tracks the attendance of each class participant and partners with Operations on make-up classes, when needed
- Maintains record of all classroom documents and evaluations
- Coordinates language and computer classes
- Implements the Computer, ROSS Spanish and English Language curriculum
- Creates a positive environment for language and computer learning
- Reinforces language retention by constant language utilization in classroom and on the floor practice
- Assists in creation of Spanish, English and Computer Curriculum and renovating the curriculum as needed
- Provides building translation support as needed

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Fully fluent in both, English and Spanish, written and verbal
- Minimum 2 years of experience of second language teaching or training experience
- Formal college level education in language training or teaching certification preferred
- Proficient in MS Word/Excel and other Microsoft systems for presenting learning and/or training information, Testing Required in MS Word II, Excel II
- Adult learning Proven Facilitation of adult learners
- Proven creativity and ability to think outside the box
- Ability to work cross functionally, up to VP level
- Will need to be comfortable spending time on the operating floor facilitating active communication between supervisors and Non-English speaking associates
- Must be willing to work multiple shifts, as needed
- Comfortable delivering presentations and speaking to large audiences as needed
Physical Requirements/ADA
Job requires ability to work in a warehouse environment, on a concrete floor as well as ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. The job also requires sitting, standing, walking, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Job requires occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance are necessary.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires full-time in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback.
