Job Duties
- Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to management
- Collect delivery instructions from the trucking office and field supervisors, verifying instructions and routes
- Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons to transport and deliver product
- Check conditions of truck box after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs
- Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
- Secure cargo for transport, using tarps
- Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary
- Communicate effectively with management and other team members
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
- Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Farms
- Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner
Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Climbing in to and exiting trucks multiple times throughout the day
- Climbing stairs multiple times a day
- Walking on uneven ground at the farm locations
- Must be able to work overtime during harvest season or as the need arises
- Experience with farm or heavy equipment operation preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Previous truck driving experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
