About the role

Join us for the Holiday Season. The Seasonal Toy Soldier will be responsible for welcoming guests as they enter the store and conducting the daily opening ceremony. The Toy Soldier represents the FAO Schwarz brand at the highest level of excellence to fully engage our guests.

Location: This role may be assigned to either of our New York locations – FAO Schwarz Flagship at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10111, or FAO Schwarz Boutique at Nordstrom, 57th Street, 225 W 57th St, New York, NY 10019.

Responsibilities

• Engage each guest to deliver an outstanding experience throughout their visit.
• Build connections with visitors and passers‑by, remaining in character at all times and bringing a sense of fun.
• Act as the personality of the store, adapting style to make both children and adults feel welcome.
• Lead the daily opening ceremony for the store with flair and uniqueness.
• Serve as greeter in all weather conditions, ensuring guests feel welcome as they start their store journey.
• Provide expert local NYC information to guests on demand, acting as a store concierge.
• Participate in social‑media posts in full Toy Soldier persona.
• Take part in filmed or live video content for social media.
• Travel for special events with the company or partners on a pre‑agreed basis.
• Lead store tours, including private events and VIP tours.
• Tailor key talking points to suit the audience and deliver information with personal flair.
• Maintain a theatrical, engaging personality that captivates audiences in all environments.
• Remain positive and in character for extended periods without losing Toy Soldier magic.
• Lift up to 25 lb, bend, twist, and stand for long periods in all weather conditions.
• Wear costume in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• Experience in performance, acting, music, or dance (a plus).
• Familiarity with a premium or experience‑based retailer (a plus).
• Strong theatrical and engaging personality capable of captivating audiences.
• Excellent public‑speaking, customer‑engagement, and hospitality skills.
• Ability to stay in character for long periods and adapt style to diverse guests.
• Physical ability to lift 25 lb and remain on feet for extended periods.

Pay

$21.00 – $23.00 per hour plus store incentive bonus (annual salary estimated based on average hours worked).

Schedule

Part‑time, 20–29 hours per week.
