SEASONAL ST. NICHOLAS ACTOR

About the role

The St. Nicholas actor will work with ArtsQuest volunteers and a professional photography team to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for visitors to Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem. This is a five‑week seasonal position running from November 13 to December 20, 2026 during festival hours. The actor will greet children, individuals and families, pose for photos, and wear a provided costume. ArtsQuest fosters a culture built on the core values of being transparent, acting generously, being curious, serving the community, and finding joy, valuing collaboration, cross‑functional work, and the willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.

• Present a jolly and joyous image at all times.
• Interact with children through seniors in a positive and respectful manner.

Skills

• Understanding and embodiment of St. Nicholas (not Santa Claus).
• Ability to listen and interact with children through seniors.
• Ability to promote the magic of the holiday season to all patrons.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel frequently; sitting for extended periods is required.
• Ability to see, hear, speak, and listen frequently.
• Ability to work indoors in air‑conditioned/heated spaces and outdoors in all weather conditions when necessary.
• Employment is contingent upon a clear Background Check and Child Abuse Clearance run by ArtsQuest.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation to the job location.
• Smoking is not permitted during work hours (except during breaks) or in any area visible to patrons.

Regular hours (festival hours):

• Thursdays – December 3, 10, 17: 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Fridays – November 13, 20, 27 and December 4, 11, 18: 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
