Rate: $15/hour. Seasonal position: Winter Ice Rink (October–March) and Summer Roller Rink (April–September).
About the role
Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Instructs multi-sport programs, including rink programs and skating lessons at an outdoor rink environment. Works under the general supervision of the Rink Manager.
Responsibilities
- Enforces all rink facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Instructs rink programs and skate lessons
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance of rink and surrounding facility
- Assists manager in maintaining a safe skating surface (shoveling, cleaning, mopping, dusting, rink clean-up)
- Exhibits a professional image, behavior, appearance, and demeanor at all times
- Maintains required certifications and participates in regular in-service training sessions
- Maintains fitness level (skating skills, strength, and endurance)
- Ensures every patron has a positive experience; responds promptly to internal and external requests
- Maintains strict confidentiality, works well with fellow staff, and treats all individuals with dignity and respect
- Arrives to work on time and as scheduled; demonstrates responsibility and reliability in attendance
- Handles equipment and resources properly for optimum usage
- Performs other duties as requested
- Provides support for the department as assigned
This is a safety-sensitive position.
Requirements
- Minimum age: 15 years with a worker’s permit
- High school diploma (or equivalent) or currently enrolled in high school
- CPR (adult-child-infant) certification by a nationally accredited organization (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- AED certification by a nationally accredited organization (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- First Aid certification by a nationally accredited organization

Physical Demands
- Exposure to outdoor elements: sun rays and varying temperatures
- Frequent walking, sitting, talking, and hearing
- Occasional use of hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs
- Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
