Responsibilities

  • Operate vehicle in accordance with LRS’ safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act), and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report)
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by LRS or directed by the Route Manager
  • Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices
  • Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage
  • Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards
  • Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager
  • Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement
  • Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on service list
  • Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed

Requirements

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
  • At least 18 years of age
  • A valid Class B CDL
  • A valid DOT medical card or obtain one prior to hire
  • No more than 3 DUI’s or OVI’s within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
  • No more than 3 license suspensions within the last 2 years
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screenings
  • Read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Must be physically able to enter/climb and leave truck cab frequently
  • Must have the manual dexterity required to operate controls on truck
