About Deam Lake

The 1,300-acre Deam Lake State Recreation Area offers a variety of activities including fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, camping, picnicking, hiking, and hunting. The 194-acre lake was constructed in 1965 as a reservoir and for flood control. It is located adjacent to the Clark State Forest and named in honor of Charles Deam, Indiana's first state forester.

Overview

We're actively hiring for a Housekeeper position at Deam Lake State Recreation Area. This seasonal position offers a competitive hourly wage starting at $12.25 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attendants: Provide quality customer service at assigned property station, collect revenue from fees and permits, and handle cash/credit card transactions.
  • Concessions: Provide quality customer service at concession stands, beach houses, or other locations, sell location-specific items, handle cash/credit payments, collect fees & permits, and report inventory.
  • Housekeepers: Maintain and clean property buildings, grounds, and facilities, including regular deep cleaning of restrooms, showers, and other property buildings.
  • Laborers: Perform various duties based on property needs, such as landscaping, mowing, firewood processing, structure maintenance, sign creation, trail upkeep, carpentry, and plumbing.
  • Office Assistants: Answer inquiries about the property and provide quality customer service to park visitors, assist property management with operations and administrative functions.
  • Clerks: Perform a wide variety of tasks to support property staff, including inventory, stocking, reporting, budgeting, and assisting with other administrative duties.
  • Security Officers: Monitor visitor activities, report issues to property management or authorities, enforce regulations, and provide security to facilities, construction sites, and logging operations.
  • DOC Crew Supervisors: Monitor Department of Corrections work release crew activities, participate in labor duties as needed, and provide transportation for the crew.
  • Shooting Range Officers (Brookville Lake Only): Monitor visitor activities using the shooting range, provide quality customer service and education on safe gun handling, enforce shooting range standard operating procedures, and perform basic maintenance.

What You'll Need for Success

  • May be expected to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • May be required to wear a DNR provided uniform.
  • May be required to work with DOC work release crews.
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
  • May be required to travel to additional properties.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
