Responsibilities

  • Direct the necessary daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean, and fair work environment for associates.
  • Ensure associates have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely inspected and maintained.
  • Organize and lead the focus on improved productivity levels, first by stressing effectiveness through process improvement and secondly by emphasizing associate work efficiency.
  • Collaborate with regional sites to share safety, labor sharing, and best practice initiatives.
  • Plan, manage, and adjust daily workload and staffing to minimize unplanned overtime.
  • Ensure shift/daily/weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished (e.g., staffing, equipment, space).
  • Communicate, apply, and enforce company policies (e.g., safety, accounting, operational, regulatory, and administrative).
  • Maximize quality and productivity by understanding job standards, evaluating performance variances, and identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Effectively communicate work task Standard Operating Procedures, convey key information during preshift meetings, and ensure appropriate shift hand-offs.
  • Provide a professional environment for external customers and vendors, such as drivers, dispatchers, and customer representatives.
  • Execute daily customer/vendor contract requirements, identify accessorial activity, and ensure necessary documentation.
  • Ensure inventory integrity through timely and accurate receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory management.
  • Participate in the collection of performance measurements consistent with customer, vendor, and site requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Operations background.
  • 1-2 years of logistics industry experience, preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience in a lead/supervisor/management role.
