Seasonal Operations Specialist

About the role

CHS Devils Lake has a great opportunity for a Seasonal Operations Specialist in Lakota, ND. This is a short-term position running from ASAP to the end of November.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Weekends as needed

Responsibilities

• Load and unload grain products and agricultural inputs from railcars and trucks using heavy or light-duty machinery/equipment (bulk and/or packaged material).
• Probe incoming trucks and sample commodities.
• Prepare trucks and railcars for loading/unloading: open hatches, attach/detach flexible hoses, loosen large nuts.
• Control and monitor all load-out functions; operate automated scale/dump systems.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks: lubricate pumps, valves, and loading arms; inspect equipment for leaks or seeps.
• Monitor and maintain quality of inventory (blended, bulk, or packaged product).
• Deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, and feed to customer sites.
• Keep work areas clean, orderly, and safe: sweep, shovel, power-wash, scrape, clean spills.
• Perform warehouse work: drive loader, operate forklift, load/unload inventory, general maintenance.
• Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal.
• Complete all required record-keeping.
• Promptly report customer complaints, repair needs, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to supervisor.
• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture; identify and communicate workplace hazards.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth facility operations and excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Must meet minimum age requirement.
• 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Business Operations.
• Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile.
• Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• CDL license or ability to attain one with Hazmat endorsement preferred.
• Agriculture experience preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins.
• Ability to work in dust, adverse weather conditions, and varying temperatures.
