About the role

This Seasonal Signs & Markings Maintenance Worker position in the Public Works department assists with painting various street markings such as crosswalks and parking lots. Work involves painting existing pavement markings, including crosswalks, parking stalls, and other symbols as directed.

Responsibilities

• Paint existing pavement markings such as crosswalks, parking stalls, and other symbols as directed.
• Work on feet for the majority of the workday while exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six to twelve months of related work experience in general public works maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Pavement marking experience is preferred.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
• Experience with small painting equipment (e.g., paint line applicators, manual paint rollers, pavement marking layout templates) or the ability to quickly learn their use.
• Able to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work days and nights.
• Exceptional customer service and demonstrated commitment to quality programs.

Physical Demands

• Moderate to heavy physical work, including lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to physically access all work sites to perform duties, potentially in any weather and environmental conditions.
• Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting.
• Frequent hand/eye coordination for operating tools, electrical equipment, and vehicles.
• Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information.
• Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.

Work Environment

• Works primarily outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
• Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals.

Equipment Used

• Occasional use of personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, tools) in the course of employment.
