Seasonal LTO-Lift Truck Operator - Forklift Operator

About the role

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Lift Truck Operator will be responsible for the movement and palletizing of bulk drums produced at the spouts, loading and unloading of trailers, and ensuring smooth and effective warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will act proactively, communicate effectively with the team, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trailers.
  • Transport product throughout the warehouse.
  • Maintain effective communication with all team members.
  • Organize tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.
  • Ensure bill of lading and all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Support team members to reinforce a team-driven atmosphere.
  • Move and palletize bulk drums produced at the spouts.
  • Label bulk drums with production and spout labels, and ensure completed pallets have assigned pallet labels.
  • Secure and inspect trailer stability prior to loading using dock locks, chocks, stands, and air locks.
  • Thoroughly inspect inbound and outbound trailers and complete documentation.
  • Stage, scan, and load trailers in a timely manner, ensuring product security.
  • Verify trailer weight is within required guidelines and evenly distributed.
  • Complete daily forklift and yard goat inspection checklists prior to use.
  • Top off forklift propane tanks and yard truck diesel fuel at the end of the shift.
  • Report any equipment or facility damage to the Mill Lead immediately.
  • Scan and correctly place product labels on each drum.
  • Securely palletize product with proper positioning, shrink wrap, and safe staging in the warehouse.
  • Provide coverage for Mill department breaks and lunches as needed.
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks, and receive and store drums and materials.
  • Clean lids of completed bulk bins thoroughly when palletized and prior to loading.
  • Sweep the warehouse, empty garbage, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Monitor supply inventory of tools and materials (shrink wrap, tape, ribbon, towels, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs consistently throughout a shift.
  • Capable of safely maneuvering drums weighing up to 275 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Effective communication with co-workers and department leads.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and noisy production environment.
  • Ability to take direction and work in a team-driven atmosphere.
  • Wear all appropriate PPE (hard hat, gloves, eye protection, ear plugs, steel toe footwear, etc.).
  • Successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck Certification Training.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and measurement principles.
  • Knowledge of bar code scanners for drum and palletized material identification.
  • Understand and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety regulations.
