Seasonal Laborer - Highway Department
About the role
The Douglas County Highway Department is seeking Seasonal Laborers for the upcoming summer season. This position will perform general highway maintenance and assigned laborer tasks involving the use of hand tools and operation of motorized equipment, including but not limited to traffic flagging, mowing with light-duty tractors, pothole patching, and general labor.
Responsibilities
- Perform general highway maintenance tasks using hand tools and motorized equipment.
- Operate light-duty tractors for mowing.
- Patch potholes and perform other laborer duties.
- Work independently and follow written and oral instructions.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy loads.
- Occasionally work overtime when requested.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- High School diploma or GED (must be at least 18 years of age).
- Good physical condition for labor-intensive work.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Strong work ethic and punctuality.

Pay
Starting rate: $18.00/hr. Returning Seasonal Laborers receive an additional $1.00 to base wage until the third consecutive season.
Schedule
This position typically works four days a week, ten hours a day. This position occasionally requires overtime work when requested.
