Basic Purpose
Interpretative Guides facilitate educational programming, serve as guides for areas of interest within a state park or other tourism location, and maintain facility standards.
Typical Job Duties
- Lead guided hikes or other outdoor activities.
- Deliver educational programming.
- Plan and lead arts and crafts activities.
- Perform trail, and animal enclosure upkeep, including repairs and cleaning.
- Aid in routine groundskeeping and facility organization around Nature Center.
- Greet and assist visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
- Engage with guests in informed interpretation.
- Aid in event setup and takedown.
- Complete daily opening and closing duties for Nature Center.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations and agency needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lead walking tours and navigate trails, regular bending, stooping, and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
Special Requirements
- Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency.
- Some locations may require a valid Driver’s License.
