About the role
As a Howl-O-Scream Costume Specialist, you'll immerse yourself in creative and thrilling responsibilities to ensure our guests experience the magic and terror of the event. You'll collaborate with creative and production teams, participate in exclusive employee events, and contribute to an award-winning scare event.
Responsibilities
- Design, create, and maintain costumes that bring Howl-O-Scream characters to life.
- Collaborate with the creative and production teams to ensure costumes meet high standards of quality and scariness.
- Coordinate and instruct cleaning, care, and maintenance of costumes, including repairs to costumes, overlays, wigs, headpieces, footwear, and laundering/storage.
- Maintain costuming integrity for assigned shows and productions.
- Construct new costumes and perform alterations as needed.
- Install and strike assigned festivals and shows.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory of costuming areas and repair materials.
- Assist performers with costume fittings, quick changes, and dressing needs during shows and events.
- Pre-set costumes for special events and functions.
- Attend and assist with dress rehearsals and onstage approvals.
- Maintain open communication with stage managers, dresser teams, and management regarding costume needs and updates.
- Assist with opening and closing duties in the Costume Shop.
- Support Entertainment activities and special events in other facilities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with costume construction, repair, or maintenance.
- Able to work in environments with atmospheric effects (fog, smoke, haze, mist, bubbles, snow, scents, etc.).
- Able to work around horror props, effects, and scare actors.
- Flexible availability Thursdays through Sundays from mid-August to November 2, including shifts as early as 6 AM and as late as 1 AM.
- Working knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Office, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under high pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to accept performance feedback and adapt accordingly.
- Troubleshooting skills for mechanical problems.
- Excellent hand and industrial machine sewing skills.
- Construction and/or costume design abilities preferred.
- Experience with or willingness to learn airbrush techniques and wig care/maintenance.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Able to stand, sit, lie down, squat, bend, and climb stairs multiple times a day.

- Costume construction and repair.

Pay
$19.00 USD hourly.
Schedule
Flexible availability required Thursdays through Sundays from mid-August to November 2, with shifts ranging from 6 AM to 1 AM.
