Join the Guest Services team at the Akron Zoo for a fun, rewarding seasonal position. Team members earn $13.00 an hour and receive discounts, flexible schedules, and the opportunity to make a real-world difference.
Food Service
- Provide an exceptional guest experience while upholding health and cleanliness standards.
- Front-of-house (FOH) duties: operate cash registers, maintain inviting storefronts and dining areas, stock inventory, and interact with guests.
- Back-of-house (BOH) duties: prepare food safely, keep kitchens and storage areas clean and organized, check-in and rotate deliveries, and update cleaning records.
- Assist with catered events.
- Work indoors (Komodo Kingdom & Grasslands Café) or outdoors (Mini Melts, Watering Hole, & Catering locations).
- Must be comfortable walking and working outdoors in all weather conditions, including cold temperatures during winter months.
No prior experience is required.
Gift Shop/Retail Operations
- Operate the cash register, stock, clean, and maintain all retail areas.
- Assist guests in selecting products while providing an excellent guest experience.
- Work inside the gift shop or at outdoor locations serving mobility and rental guests.
- Use a station-based POS system and other technologies.
- Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. when merchandising product.
Previous sales experience is a plus but not required.
Guest Experiences
- Staff the Ticket Counter and operate ride attractions, including the Conservation Carousel, A&K Wilbur / Considine Express (trackless trains).
- Sell crackers and browse to feed goats at the Boma.
- Accurately scan tickets, sell general admission and special event tickets, sell memberships, and redeem membership certificates.
- Operate rides safely and efficiently.
- Work both indoors and outdoors.
- Driving the A&K Wilbur and/or Considine Express requires a valid driver’s license.
Pay
$13.00 an hour.
Schedule
Seasonal employment ends on December 31.
