About the Role

This seasonal position performs general maintenance, repair, cleaning, and service work on City golf course grounds and buildings, including equipment, machinery, and irrigation systems. Additional duties include staffing the pro shop and maintaining golf carts. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Foreman and indirect supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director. Hours vary and include early weekday mornings, weekends, and holidays. The role involves outdoor work in adverse weather conditions and mechanical hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general grounds maintenance using specialized equipment, including mowing, trimming, weeding, aerating, and trash/debris removal.
  • Maintain and repair golf course facilities, motorized and non-motorized equipment, and automated irrigation systems.
  • Provide facility and equipment security.
  • Staff the pro shop as required and clean, maintain, and repair golf carts.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency (waived for enrolled high school students).
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training demonstrating the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Knowledge of golf and golf equipment.
  • Experience with power/hand tools, golf/utility carts, tractors, riding/walk mowers, and automated sprinkler systems.
  • Ability to maintain written records, logs, and documentation.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid Idaho Driver’s License with no restrictions.

Skills

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Positive interactions with co-workers and the public.
  • Basic grounds maintenance skills, including mowing and planting.

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Sufficient speech clarity, hearing, manual dexterity, and mobility to communicate, operate tools, and respond to alarms.
  • Ability to comprehend written instructions, technical documents, and work orders.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Outdoor work in all environmental conditions.
  • Visual acuity (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment).
