Seasonal Field Maintenance Worker

Department: Fire Department

Status: Seasonal (non-benefitted, 6 months or less) • Starting salary: $17.00/hour

About the role

Under the supervision of the Fire Captain/Engineering Boss, performs urban interface thinning and mitigation efforts within Sandy City. Candidates will work with other part-time members on thinning fuels and creating fuel breaks.

Responsibilities

• Use discretion and judgment in emergency situations
• Care for, condition, and use department apparatus and equipment
• Report mechanical or other issues that require service to equipment
• Communicate verbally and in writing; write reports
• Frequently use weed eater and hand tools; understand care and maintenance of tools
• Analyze and solve problems
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and City personnel

Requirements

• Some related work experience preferred but not required
• Must be at least 16 years old
• Valid Utah Driver’s License or valid learner’s permit

Work schedule will be arranged with the employer.
