Seasonal Dock Hand at National Harbor Boathouse

National Harbor Boathouse, managed by Guest Services, Inc., is hiring seasonal dock hands for the 2026 season (May through September). The position is part-time, with staff required to work at least one weekend day plus summer holidays. Ideal for those who enjoy outdoor work and guest interaction.

$17.95 USD hourly

Schedule

• Seasonal: May through September

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe boating environment by following procedures and guidelines
• Assist with docking boats and safely help customers on/off rental equipment
• Perform boathouse maintenance: cleaning, weeding, trash removal, organizing, and ordering supplies
• Provide excellent customer service and escalate issues to supervisors
• Administer First Aid & CPR to guests if needed
• Operate cash register: calculate bills, issue receipts/refunds/credit, and maintain accurate cash handling
• Report safety issues to management immediately
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors

Requirements

• Partial high school education; high school diploma/G.E.D. preferred
• Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to assisting customers and coworkers
• Ability to identify and communicate problems to management
• Must be able to swim or willing to wear a personal flotation device while on duty
• CPR/First Aid certification (training provided if needed)

Physical and Mental Demands

• Frequent movement on foot, including bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching above shoulder height
• Lifting requirements: up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to stand for the entire workday and climb steps regularly
• Work in wet, slippery, hot, damp, and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather and temperature extremes
• Frequent hand immersion in water
• Read, write, and understand work-related documents in English
• Clear speech recognition and communication in English with customers and coworkers
• Physical presence at the job site is essential
