Seasonal Development Associate

Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) is the largest guide dog school in North America, supported entirely by private donations to achieve our mission of fostering independence and mobility.

About the role

We’re looking for a seasonal Development Associate (September–January) to join our San Rafael campus. In this role, you’ll support a fundraising program with over 90,000 donors annually through efficient data entry, report management, and system navigation in Salesforce. You’ll collaborate with a small, dedicated team to enhance donor engagement and stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, post, and acknowledge a high volume of donations in a timely manner.
• Perform database functions to ensure accurate entry of constituent data in Salesforce.
• Assist with mail, email, and text campaign management, including reviewing correspondence, responding as needed, and coding records to align with donor communication preferences.
• Provide excellent donor service by answering department phone calls and emails to address constituent needs and requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proficiency in Salesforce or similar database/fundraising software required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Willingness to learn gift processing principles, practices, and IRS standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to produce clear documentation.
• Strong donor/customer service skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• Familiarity with 501(c)(3) organizations.
