Seasonal Custodial Position

Overview

The part-time Custodial position keeps campus buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing various duties. Must be available to work shift work.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum dorms, hallways, classrooms, stairs, restrooms, and office spaces
• Empty trash containers
• Clean carpets, walls, and windows
• Report to supervisor concerning needed repairs to lighting, doors, and plumbing systems
• Clean snow and debris from sidewalk and building entrances
• Follow safety and security procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. This position requires nearly continuous standing, repetitive hand motions, and reaching overhead. Employees may be exposed to unusual elements including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Employees must adhere to safety precautions, security procedures, and may be required to use protective equipment.
