About the role

The Omaha, NE office of Lamp Rynearson is seeking a Seasonal Construction Observer to serve as an energetic field representative familiar with public infrastructure projects. The position is responsible for accurately monitoring and documenting construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately monitor and document construction projects
  • Affirm that the project has been constructed in accordance with project plans and specifications
  • Interpret civil engineering plans and specifications with attention to detail
  • Communicate plan and specification requirements to contractors and effectively communicate with members of the project team
  • Solve problems collaboratively with contractors, clients, and coworkers
  • Organize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Work well with various character types and backgrounds
  • Use basic computer skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel, Adobe or Bluebeam software
  • Physically maneuver around construction sites, including accessing stabilized excavations and trenches, structures, and other disturbed areas
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds of weight
  • Work overtime including Saturdays as needed
  • Access project sites using a dependable personal vehicle
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with minimum state required liability insurance and a clean driving record

Requirements

  • Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Surveying experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel, Adobe or Bluebeam software
  • The ability to physically maneuver around construction sites, including accessing stabilized excavations and trenches, structures and other disturbed areas
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of weight
  • The availability to work overtime including Saturdays as needed
  • A dependable personal vehicle to access our project sites
  • A valid driver’s license with minimum state required liability insurance and a clean driving record

Qualifications

A successful candidate will possess Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or Surveying experience; The ability to interpret civil engineering plans and specifications with attention to detail; Excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay plan and specification requirements to contractors and to effectively communicate with members of the project team; Well-developed problem-solving skills; The ability to collaborate with contractors, clients and coworkers; Proven organizational skills; The ability to work well with a variety of character types and backgrounds; Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel, Adobe or Bluebeam software; The ability to physically maneuver around construction sites, including accessing stabilized excavations and trenches, structures and other disturbed areas; The ability to lift and carry 50 pounds of weight; The availability to work overtime including Saturdays as needed; A dependable personal vehicle to access our project sites; and Valid driver’s license with minimum state required liability insurance and clean driving record.
