Job Summary
The Seasonal Coach is responsible for leading and developing student-athletes in a specific sport while supporting the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the Catholic school. The coach promotes athletic excellence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth within a faith-centered environment. This position is seasonal and reports to the Athletic Director.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices that develop student-athletes' skills, teamwork, and physical conditioning.
- Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities.
- Foster an environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, discipline, and Christian values.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes by following established safety procedures and school policies.
- Teach and model ethical behavior, integrity, and respect for officials, opponents, teammates, and spectators.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the Athletic Director.
- Monitor student-athlete conduct and encourage academic success and personal responsibility.
- Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development sessions, and school athletic events as assigned.
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities in cooperation with the Athletic Department.
- Comply with all school, diocesan, league, and state athletic association rules and regulations.
- Complete required reports, eligibility documentation, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous coaching experience or participation in the sport is preferred.
- Knowledge of the rules, strategies, and techniques of the assigned sport.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and concussion training certifications, or the ability to obtain them before the season begins.
- Successful completion of required background checks and safe environment training.
