Seasonal CDL Equipment Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead by example.
• Maintain a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
• Create high levels of morale, foster teamwork, inspire collaboration, and provide suggestions for growth to management.
• Operate Canterbury’s Garbage trucks to collect, transport and dispose of soiled horse bedding.
• Operate Canterbury’s semi-tractor and trailer.
• Help keep vehicle shop and surrounding area neat and orderly.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Class A or B CDL Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brakes.
• Able to work in, on and with dusty, dirty, smelly equipment and areas.
• Must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, Drug Screening, and Canterbury Park's Safe Driving Policy.
• Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Passenger endorsement would be a plus but not required.
• Some experience or education on equipment repairs.
• Experience operating farm equipment, skid loaders, front-end loaders, power mowers, weed whip, dump trucks, gators, and JLG Lifts.
• Experience with minor repairs to farm equipment, lawn equipment, and motor vehicle repair.

• Must be able to work in the stable-dusty dirty area.
• Willingness to crawl into the garbage trucks to clean out tracks and associated equipment-by hand, with a pitch fork or water hose.
• Willingness to operate the sewer pumping wagon-Honey Wagon. Very smelly.
• Be able to work with racing dept., horsemen, vehicle shop and vets.
• Position requires working nights, weekends & holidays, when needed.
• Ability to work under all weather conditions.
• Use of ladders up to 12 ft.
• Able to lift and work with 25lb loads for 4 hours.
