Seasonal Cashier Team Member

About the role

The Fresh Market’s mission is to make everyday eating extraordinary for guests, creating a warm, welcoming, memorable experience with exceptional, personal service. We are seeking seasonal team members able to work in Grocery, Guest Service (Front End), Early Morning Production, Produce departments, and provide counter support in Deli, Bakery, or Meat & Seafood departments.

Responsibilities

• Consistently provide excellent guest service by engaging with guests to learn their wants and needs and help them create meal solutions.
• Maintain knowledge of products and weekly ad items throughout the store and work across departments to assist guests.
• Safely handle food products for guest sampling.
• Create a hospitable shopping experience by merchandising and stocking products and specialty items throughout the day while assisting nearby guests.
• Properly weigh and scan products, handle cash, and provide change as appropriate.
• Gather shopping carts from the parking lot and assist with general housekeeping duties throughout the store.
• Slice and prepare a variety of department meats, cheeses, and convenient meal solutions throughout the day while maintaining quality product levels.
• Present self in a professional manner, adhering to uniform standards.

Requirements

• At a minimum, a passion for providing extraordinary service.
• At least 16 years of age (or at least 18 years of age for positions in Deli, Bakery, or Produce).
• Preferred: experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality industries.
• Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping, bending, reaching; lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment (unless under 18).
• Required to spend long periods on feet, stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours or as required by law.
• Required to wear an approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment.

Schedule

This is a seasonal position requiring a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays, to support the store during key business periods.
