About the role

The bartender plays a crucial role in the restaurant, focusing on taking orders, serving beverages, and building repeat clientele. This position requires a combination of skills, knowledge, and personality to exceed guest expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge all bar guests immediately, even during busy times.
  • Take guests' orders, use salesmanship techniques, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Always read guests when making suggestions.
  • Input orders into the POS system accurately.
  • Show strong knowledge of house cocktails and classic recipes.
  • Be knowledgeable about the wine list and ready to answer questions.
  • Quickly make beverages for bar guests and service bars.
  • Open all wine and champagne bottles using proper techniques.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge them.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Proactively resolve guest complaints.
  • Act with integrity and honesty, and inform management of any issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the bar.
  • Mark bar guests for each course in advance of food delivery.
  • Anticipate guests' needs and ensure their satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on menu items and alert management to notable guests.
  • Ensure accuracy of guest checks and promptly process payments.
  • Handle cash correctly and give accurate change.
  • Close out all cash checks for the floor promptly.
  • Complete end-of-night closing checks.
  • Inform management of pertinent information related to the shift.
  • Follow responsible alcohol practices, including carding guests.
  • Comply with health department procedures and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a full-service restaurant bar environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Active ServSafe Alcohol and Food Allergen certifications or equivalent.
  • Must meet state requirements to serve alcohol and work behind a bar.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Able to work on feet for extended periods.
  • Extensive knowledge of the entire food menu and associated food allergies.
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations related to food service and health code compliance.

Schedule

The schedule is flexible but includes shifts from November 23, 2026, to April 11, 2027, with specific hours to be determined.
