Seasonal Agricultural Workers - Turf Weed Science Program
About the role
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seasonal Agricultural Worker for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. This position supports the Turfgrass Weed Science Program as an Agricultural Research Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Assists with experiment setup and treatment application in field, greenhouse, and lab studies.
- Collections, manages, and processes research data to support ongoing studies.
- Maintains field and greenhouse research areas, including tasks such as equipment operation, watering, weeding, mowing, planting/seeding, and scouting for weeds or turf conditions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural science, horticulture, or related fields. Experience with field and greenhouse research, data collection and management, and basic laboratory techniques is preferred. Knowledge of weed ecology, turfgrass management, and sustainable agriculture practices is beneficial.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a valid driver’s license. Applicants must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, and may be required to travel to various locations within the state.
Skills
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills are required.
