Search Engineer (Remote)

Remote contract role building and refining agentic search systems that power modern applications, with a focus on engineering systems where real users depend on accurate relevance and retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Own relevance or retrieval for systems relied upon by real users.
• Quantify impact and improvements in search performance using clear metrics.
• Design and implement agentic search architectures that adapt to user intent.
• Scale data infrastructure to support fast, reliable search at production scale.
• Make tradeoffs between latency, accuracy, and computational cost in search systems.

Requirements

• Experience shipping production search systems with measurable impact.
• Ability to evaluate search quality using quantitative methods.
• Familiarity with agentic systems and their integration with search pipelines.
• Knowledge of data infrastructure scaling for high-throughput search workloads.
• Experience designing relevance models or retrieval algorithms.
