Overview

The SEO Strategist is responsible for developing, executing, and continuously refining SEO strategies that improve visibility, qualified traffic, and lead generation. This role serves as the primary strategic owner of assigned accounts, ensuring SEO efforts align with client goals, user intent, and business objectives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Account Strategy & Ownership

    • Develop and manage SEO strategies for assigned accounts
    • Build actionable roadmaps that align with business goals, audience needs, and search opportunities
    • Prioritize recommendations based on expected impact and available resources
    • Ensure all SEO efforts support meaningful business outcomes, not just rankings and traffic growth
    • Maintain a strong understanding of each client's market, competitors, and growth opportunities
  • Performance Review & Analysis

    • Regularly review rankings, organic traffic, conversions, engagement metrics, and lead performance
    • Analyze trends to identify opportunities, risks, and areas requiring attention
    • Monitor the impact of implemented SEO initiatives and adjust strategies accordingly
    • Provide clear explanations for performance changes and recommended next steps
    • Maintain ongoing awareness of what is working and what is not across assigned accounts
  • Content Strategy Support

    • Conduct keyword research, topic research, and search intent analysis
    • Develop content recommendations that support both audience needs and SEO objectives
    • Collaborate with Content Strategy and writers to ensure content aligns with search opportunities and business goals
    • Evaluate content performance and recommend updates, expansions, consolidations, or new content opportunities
    • Ensure content supports the full user journey from awareness to conversion
  • Technical SEO Oversight

    • Identify technical SEO opportunities and issues affecting performance
    • Conduct audits related to crawlability, indexation, site architecture, schema, page experience, and site health
    • Partner with development teams to prioritize and implement recommendations
    • Validate implementation and monitor performance impact
  • Reporting & Recommendations

    • Prepare and communicate clear, actionable performance insights
    • Translate SEO metrics into meaningful business outcomes and strategic recommendations
    • Ensure reporting focuses on impact, trends, and opportunities rather than simply reporting data
    • Proactively recommend improvements that enhance visibility, engagement, and lead generation
  • Collaboration & Cross-Department Alignment

    • Partner with content, development, design, PR, and client-facing teams to ensure successful execution of SEO initiatives
    • Clearly communicate priorities, requirements, and strategic rationale across departments
    • Ensure recommendations are aligned with broader marketing efforts and business objectives
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement

    • Stay informed on search engine updates, AI search developments, and industry trends
    • Continuously evaluate new opportunities to improve visibility and performance
    • Test new approaches and incorporate learnings into future strategies
    • Share insights and best practices with the broader SEO team

Compensation & Employment Details

  • Full-time, remote position
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • All positions begin as a 90-day contract-to-hire arrangement
  • After 90 days, candidates may be considered for full-time employment
