About the role

As a Seamstress Tailor / Sewing Specialist at David’s Bridal, you will complete all fittings and alterations to the high standards of the brand. You will exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise while providing superior customer service. Alterations Specialists are integral members of the store team, demonstrating the value and qualities of the David’s Bridal brand.

Responsibilities

• Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person, adapting communication style to suit customer needs by problem-solving and resolving conflicts.
• Use systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five-star customer experience.
• Maintain all service levels by being Prepared, Welcoming, meeting customer needs, and fulfilling operational checklist tasks.
• Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers simultaneously and contribute to the store’s achievement of Five-Star Customer Service.
• Proactively address customer concerns with confidence and escalate to leadership when necessary.
• Communicate the importance of alterations in perfecting a dress for the customer’s event, promoting all alteration services and personalization options.
• Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting with customers regarding gown fit and customization.
• Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience, including compliance with the Dress Code Policy.
• Greet and escort all alterations customers to and from appointments.
• Maintain quality control by inspecting all altered, steamed, or pressed garments to ensure pristine condition before final delivery.
• Respond promptly to customer questions by providing product and service information.
• Build long-term customer relationships to meet and exceed satisfaction and loyalty.
• Maintain inventory management by processing special orders, pick-ups, and ensuring first-quality standards for all merchandise.
• Ensure alteration pricing adheres to company standards.
• Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning of garments to company standards.
• Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively in compliance with company guidelines.
• Support all cash wrap behaviors and process transactions accurately.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized alterations room.
• Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned by store management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent degree.
• 1-2 years of prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment.
• Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal and/or special occasion production.
• Prior experience with computerized POS (Point of Sale) systems is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
• Reach for tools and objects with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bend, twist, and stand for extended periods.
• Move throughout the store and engage in conversation with customers.
• Manual dexterity to perform non-selling responsibilities, such as use of POS terminals, counting money, steaming garments, accessing computers, and receiving or initiating telephone calls.
• Manual dexterity to sew and perform fittings to David’s Bridal standards.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
• Ability to see up close and at a distance, including peripheral vision and depth perception, and use computers, electronic devices, and phones for long periods.

The standard base pay range for this role is posted at a minimum and maximum rate. The starting rate of pay offered will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, training, and/or experience, and internal equity.
