About the role
Seafood Clerks create an exceptional customer service experience by ensuring seafood areas are properly stocked, providing assistance to customers to locate items, and preparing seafood to customer specifications.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service.
- Cut, prepare, measure, package, and wrap seafood to customer specifications.
- Ensure all product date coding is accurate and within parameters.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and all regulations.
- Rotate sections 100%.
- Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with company standards.
- Provide assistance to co-workers.
- Unload delivery trucks.
- Utilize the ordering system to ensure items are ordered in a timely manner.
- Cull displays to ensure only fresh and quality product is available.
- Increase sales by providing information needed to make product-related decisions.
- Minimize shrinkage through proper handling of products.
- Properly clean equipment and tools utilized.
- Stack, rotate, and date code coolers.
- Transfer stock from coolers and freezers to department shelves.
- Comply with safety and health standards to ensure safe handling of food.
- Identify, correct, and report unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Strong computer skills and software management.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Strong communication skills with both customers and coworkers.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Knowledge of and experience complying with equipment, safety principles, practices, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of people and property.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to work flexible schedules through the day, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Safe operation of tools and equipment.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position requires heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 100 pounds with frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and inspecting work sites. Work is performed indoors in a refrigerated climate-controlled setting.
