About the Role

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is responsible for ensuring software quality by implementing test automation frameworks and strategies. This role involves staying updated on technology trends to improve the organization's software solutions and overall technical strategy. The SDET understands automated test solutions and underlying technologies, independently resolves issues, and proactively addresses technical debt to maintain stable and performant automated test solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement test automation frameworks and strategies.
  • Ensure software quality through various testing techniques and tools.
  • Resolve issues independently and address technical debt.
  • Stay updated on technology trends to enhance software solutions.
  • Collaborate with software developers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Deliver high-quality projects on time and within scope.

Requirements

  • Strong skills in database principles and scripting SQL queries.
  • Experience with test tools such as Azure DevOps pipeline and test plans, xUnit, nUnit, JMeter, Jasmine, Mocha, MOQ, TestComplete, SoapUI, and Selenium.
  • Highly skilled in test design and test automation focusing on functional, security, performance, mobile, load, and infrastructure/workstation testing.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing best practices and code coverage tools.
  • Expertise in programming, scripting, and markup languages/frameworks (e.g., C#, .NET, .NET Core, Java, Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript, TypeScript, T-SQL, HTML, XML, CSS, ASP .NET, Angular, ReactJS, Python).
  • High degree of expertise in software development tools (e.g., Visual Studio, Chrome Developer Tools, SQL Server Management Studio).
  • Knowledge of system design principles and patterns (e.g., MVC, CQRS).
  • Skilled in object-oriented design and object-relational mapping (ORM).
  • Highly skilled in testing patterns (e.g., inversion of control, dependency injection).
  • Skilled in the development of web services (e.g., SOAP and REST).
  • Strong experience with code repository tools such as SVN and GitHub.
  • Strong skills in continuous integration, continuous delivery, and source code management.
  • Understanding of secure coding techniques and best practices.
  • Skilled in software analysis, design, and problem resolution.
  • Understanding of web application architecture and the software development process.
  • Proven understanding of organizationally accepted technology standards.
  • Experience with software development in multi-platform environments (e.g., Mac, Linux, Windows).
  • Understanding of hardware, storage, networking, and infrastructure components related to software development.
  • High degree of understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms and their application to the organization.
  • Knowledge of full-stack development.
  • Highly skilled in DevOps methodologies (e.g., automation, continuous feedback, quality signal).

Qualifications

One or more of the following or equivalent technical certifications and FLMI certification is recommended but not required:

  • Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD)
  • IEEE Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
  • LOMA Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI)
  • CSTP, CTM or equivalent
  • CTFL (Foundation Level)
