SDE II, Life Sciences Applied AI
About the Role
As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we are building an end-user enterprise application that orchestrates multiple AI agents to streamline the entire clinical trial process—from planning and monitoring to regulatory submission. This is a new product in a space with massive opportunity for AWS, focusing on accelerating clinical trials, which are the most time-consuming and cost-heavy step in bringing new drugs to market. We aim to improve health outcomes for patients through innovative AI solutions.
We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) with a strong sense of ownership and a bias for action to help drive the design and development of complex features. You’ll partner with Product, Science, and UX teams to solve ambiguous problems and contribute as an enthusiastic member of a small, startup-like team co-located in one location.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex features for an AI-driven enterprise application in the clinical trials domain.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Science, and UX, to solve ambiguous and challenging problems.
- Drive technical decisions and influence the architecture of the product from a 0→1 stage.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, testing, and operations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Benefits
- Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D, with options for supplemental life plans).
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Mental Health Support, and Medical Advice Line.
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for healthcare and dependent care.
- Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage.
- 401(k) matching.
- Paid time off and parental leave.
- Sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
Pay
Base salary range: $143,700 – $194,400 USD annually (location: Seattle, WA). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
