About the role

As a Secure Detention Registered Nurse at Together for Youth, you will provide an initial health assessment of youth entering the facility, including health history, physical exams, and laboratory tests. You will treat emergency and/or serious acute health conditions and ensure continuity of care for all residents in conjunction with other practitioners to address health needs in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, including HIV risk assessments, intake assessments, general first aid, and triage activities.
• Perform routine screening for substance abuse, developmental health, mental health, and physical body checks for abuse.
• Provide routine management and training regarding health education.
• Train staff about youth medical issues.
• Administer and manage medication, including reconciliation.
• Maintain medical supplies and equipment.
• Practice proper infection control.
• Follow up after medical appointments, community provider visits, urgent/emergency care, or hospitalization.
• Ensure compliance with state and agency laws and regulations.
• Provide telephone and tele-health on-call support to the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience preferred; experience dealing with adolescents a plus.
• Current and valid driver's license with acceptable driving history to the Agency. Local and regional travel is required daily.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Proficiency in MS Office.

Pay

$42 per hour.
