About the role
Champion Agile practices across high-performing software engineering teams. Guide sprint teams toward predictable delivery while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. The role combines hands-on Scrum leadership with project coordination, stakeholder management, and Agile coaching. You’ll work closely with Product Owners, engineering teams, leadership, and cross-functional partners to remove blockers and maintain momentum. Your impact will be measured through stronger team velocity, improved delivery, and reduced impediments. You’ll also help evolve Agile practices across the organization and influence leaders on effective ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Champion Agile principles and guide one or more engineering teams in adopting and consistently applying Scrum practices, best practices, and continuous improvement techniques.
- Facilitate stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, release planning, retrospectives, and other ceremonies to ensure teams remain aligned with clear sprint goals and delivery commitments.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve blockers by connecting with external teams and stakeholders, while escalating issues that cannot be resolved within the sprint team.
- Protect teams from external interruptions that could jeopardize sprint objectives, maintain engagement and transparency, and promote collective ownership of deliverables.
- Manage engineering projects and coordinate cross-functional meetings to develop project plans, release plans, status reports, and other delivery artifacts.
- Provide consistent project and sprint updates to senior management, Product Owners, leadership, and other stakeholders while ensuring priorities and expectations remain clear.
- Maintain accurate and complete data in team tools, monitor workload commitments, and use delivery metrics such as velocity, completed work, and impediment hours to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Mentor sprint teams and extended stakeholders on Agile and Scrum principles and help leadership continuously strengthen the organization’s Agile practice.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Scrum Master within web engineering or software development environments, with familiarity with product development and launch cycles.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) certification is required; PMP certification is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Scrum methodologies, Agile principles, sprint planning, backlog management, retrospectives, release planning, and team coaching.
- Proven experience leading Agile/Scrum projects across cross-functional and highly matrixed organizations, with strong planning, organization, and coordination capabilities.
- Expertise with Agile and software development tools such as JIRA and the ability to work comfortably with engineering teams and technical workflows.
- Ability to act as an Agile leader, mentor teams, remove ambiguity, and coach senior leadership on the continuous evolution of Agile practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate productive discussions and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, structured, and passionate about delivering excellent experiences, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain momentum.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, accountability, and the ability to foster trust, engagement, and collective ownership within distributed teams.
