Scribe - Ophthalmology Clinic
About the role
The primary responsibility of the Ophthalmic Scribe is to support the physician in the clinical setting by enhancing efficiency and productivity. The ideal candidate will anticipate physician needs, communicate effectively with both patients and staff, and multitask seamlessly to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and thoroughly document ophthalmic exams and procedures as performed by the physician
- Record appropriate diagnoses, symptoms, prescriptions, and follow-up instructions as directed by the physician
- Provide patients and/or family members with self-care and follow-up instructions as communicated by the physician
- Cook up patient scheduling and maintain clinic flow, clearly communicating any delays
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department manager, facility administrator, or physician(s)
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic scribe or technician preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Skills
Accurate documentation skills, strong communication abilities, multitasking proficiency, familiarity with EMRs
