Responsibilities

  • Document information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and gather important medical information from patients.
  • Code and document dictated information from providers into the patient’s EHR.
  • Review patient visit details and preliminary work-up completed by the Ophthalmic Technician to ensure completeness and accuracy before the provider exam.
  • Fill patient rooms as needed and review provider schedules to confirm patients are scheduled correctly.
  • Ensure the patient’s visit flows smoothly with the provider in the appropriate amount of time.
  • Generate medication prescriptions as directed by the provider through eRx.
  • Educate patients on ophthalmic conditions and obtain consent for procedures and surgery.
  • Perform pretests including Goldmann Tonometry, extra-ocular muscle evaluation, confrontational visual fields, refractions, and lensometry as needed.
  • Communicate any clinic flow concerns with facilitators and management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • COA or COT certification preferred.
  • Ophthalmology experience is a plus.
  • General knowledge of clinical and surgical procedure requirements.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Detailed oriented, reliable, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule working Monday through Friday.
