Screed Operator

General Summary

Operates screed machine to spread and smooth freshly poured concrete or asphalt surfaces. This is a union-represented position.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Must be able to operate asphalt, screed, or concrete paver.
• Ability to operate other paving related equipment as well such as rollers, screed, etc.
• Must be able to safely perform a number of construction paving duties.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor.
• Moves levers, depresses pedals, turns handwheels, and pushes throttle to control and guide machine.

Education & Work Experience

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.
• Appropriate training and experience required.

• Read engineering drawing.
• Practice good safety habits.
• Work in dusty or dirty surroundings.
• Follow instructions and meet set standards.
• Judge distances and slopes accurately.
• Make decisions based on verifiable standards.

Physical Requirements

• Stoop, bend, and crouch.
• Use hands, arms, and legs fully.
• See well (either naturally or with correction).
• Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Pay & Schedule

• Hourly: $38.47 - $47.15.
• Pay may vary based on relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
• Collective Bargaining Agreements will govern as applicable.
