Responsibilities
- Operate a scraper to support a variety of heavy civil construction projects.
- Operate additional equipment as needed, including loaders, excavators, dozers, motor graders, compactors, water trucks, skid steers, backhoes, mechanized brooms, and other construction equipment.
- Work closely with crew members to complete daily project activities and follow site direction.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and accurately document findings.
- Keep assigned equipment clean and in good operating condition.
- Perform routine equipment checks and communicate maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Participate in daily crew meetings and project planning activities.
- Operate equipment in accordance with company procedures, project requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Communicate equipment concerns, operational issues, or job site observations to the supervisor.
- Auxiliary duties as needed to support project operations.
- When equipment operation is not required, assist the crew with general labor activities.
Requirements
- Familiarity with electronic equipment controls and operating systems.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and equipment operating skills.
- Working knowledge of heavy civil construction methods and job site operations.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials and working on uneven terrain.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Two or more years of experience operating scrapers or other heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Experience working on heavy civil, roadway, earthwork, or site development projects is a plus.
