This position is onsite at Bell’s Assembly Center in Amarillo, TX, near the airport.

About the role

Bring your experience and ideas to ensure timely delivery of supplies and materials. As the key interface for subcontract administration of major systems and complex components, you’ll support aircraft production, product upgrades, and new program development. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to drive cost reduction initiatives that enhance affordability and quality. This role involves close coordination with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams across Bell.

Responsibilities

• Execute standard purchasing procedures for assigned commodities or suppliers to ensure timely delivery of supplies and materials.
• Lead negotiations, supplier data management, cost breakdowns, and cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
• Exercise discretion within approved purchasing procedures to ensure compliance with contractual obligations for Bell Helicopter and suppliers.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal customers, furnishing supplier data to functional disciplines and SCM/IPT management.
• Maintain and manage open order reports for each supplier.
• Negotiate complex subcontracts, including financial terms, contractual terms, and technical conditions with major suppliers.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives in partnership with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to improve affordability and quality.
• Oversee new supplier addition and management, including purchase order management, competitive pricing adherence, inventory analysis, and supplier qualification.
• Negotiate long-term agreements and contract packages exceeding TINA (Truth in Negotiations Act) thresholds.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Program, Finance, and other teams to drive process improvements.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to peers, proactively addressing challenges.
• Monitor supply base risks, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
• Act as a subject matter expert for SCM purchasing activities, capable of training cross-functional team members.
• Serve as a special project lead or key communication conduit for product assurance when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Supply Chain degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, and/or contract experience.
• Experience with financial analysis, cost analysis of commodities/raw materials, and understanding of direct/indirect commodity pricing.
• Ability to work autonomously and understand FAR/DFAR guidelines.
• Highly analytical with a strong ability to systematically study and learn complex information.
• Willingness to ask questions, perform research, and continually expand knowledge in government contracting and procurement.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to finding solutions.
• Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Passion for military and aerospace industries.
• Ability to travel up to 25% annually or as business needs dictate.
• This position requires handling information subject to ITAR/EAR regulations. U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee) is required for non-U.S. persons to meet eligibility for access to export-restricted information.
