About the role

Moderna is seeking a Scientist to join the Oncology Bioinformatics team within the Cancer Vaccine and Bioinformatics Research organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply computational biology at the intersection of single-cell genomics, T cell biology, and cancer immunotherapy.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret single-cell, bulk genomics, and functional genomics datasets to characterize immune responses and tumor biology.
  • Develop and apply computational approaches to investigate T cell biology and mechanisms of anti-tumor immunity.
  • Integrate internal and public datasets to support target discovery, biomarker identification, and translational research.
  • Develop and maintain reproducible bioinformatics workflows using modern computational tools and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support study design, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Communicate findings through presentations, reports, and scientific discussions to inform research decisions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., with 0+ years of experience or M.S. with 4+ years of experience, in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-throughput sequencing data, including single-cell RNA-seq, bulk RNA-seq, DNA-seq and TCR-seq.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R for computational data analysis.
  • Experience working in cloud environments (e.g., AWS).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply computational approaches to biological or early-stage translational research.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • Exposure to immuno-oncology, cancer vaccines, tumor immunology, or computational immunology.
  • Familiarity with neoantigen prediction approaches, including HLA typing and peptide-MHC binding tools (e.g., NetMHCpan).
  • Experience with immunogenomics resources (e.g., IEDB, TCGA).

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.
