Responsibilities

• Works independently to design, execute, and analyze LCMS, SEC, and other experiments to assess physicochemical properties of antibody and non-antibody protein reagents.
• Performs development, validation, and implementation of quantitative and qualitative assays using physicochemical methodologies (e.g., LC-MS, SEC-RI, UV-Vis) with minimal guidance.
• Designs and executes method development experiments for bioconjugations of antibodies and proteins.
• Performs method development and refines characterization protocols as needed.
• Interprets results, plans next steps, compiles final data summaries, and presents results to stakeholders with minimal oversight.
• Provides oversight of experimental design and data review for junior staff members.
• Assists in scientific collaborations and/or contracted research as needed.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand project needs and relay information back to the group.
• May serve as a technical point of contact within the group.
• May lead innovation projects related to the physicochemical characterization of protein reagents.
• Troubleshoots instrument problems and malfunctions.
• Maintains required training per BMS standard operating procedures.
• Maintains and completes notebooks and other documentation as per departmental guidelines.
• Leads or contributes to writing and presentation of findings in the form of posters, publications, and oral presentations (internal and external).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of related industry experience, or Master’s Degree with 2+ years of related industry experience, or Ph.D. in a related field with 0+ years of related industry experience.
• Operational and theoretical understanding of Mass Spectrometry, size exclusion chromatography, and reverse phase chromatography.
• Basic understanding of protein conjugation chemistry is required; experience is a plus.
• Proficient in scientific writing with good verbal communication skills and the ability to independently interpret and deliver results.
• Ability to effectively work across levels and functions with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Pay

Princeton, NJ (US): $100,330 – $121,571 (full-time employee basis). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility. The starting pay rate reflects required skills, location, and experience. Final compensation will be determined by demonstrated experience.

Schedule

This role follows an on-site protocol based on occupancy structure:

• Site-essential roles: Require 100% of shifts onsite at the assigned facility.
• Site-by-design roles: May be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at the assigned facility. Onsite presence is critical for collaboration, innovation, and productivity.
