About the role

Perform laboratory experiments for the physicochemical characterization and conjugation of protein reagents for use across multiple technology platforms, including but not limited to: Immunoassays, flow cytometry, IHC, and LCMS. In this role, you will collaborate and communicate across the organization to assure on-time delivery of high-quality characterized materials.

Responsibilities

• Work independently to design, execute, and analyze LCMS, SEC, and other experiments to assess physicochemical properties of antibody and non-antibody protein reagents.
• Perform development, validation, and implementation of quantitative and qualitative assays using physiochemical methodologies (i.e., LC-MS, SEC-RI, UV-Vis) with minimal guidance.
• Work independently to design and execute method development experiments for bioconjugations of antibodies and proteins.
• Perform method development and refine characterization protocols as needed.
• Work with minimal oversight to interpret results, plan next steps, compile final data summaries, and present results to stakeholders.
• Provide oversight of experimental design and data review for junior staff members.
• Assist in scientific collaborations and/or contracted research as needed.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand project needs and relay information back to the group.
• May serve as a technical point of contact within the group.
• May lead innovation projects related to the physicochemical characterization of protein reagents.
• Troubleshoot instrument problems and malfunctions.
• Maintain required training per BMS standard operating procedures.
• Maintain and complete notebooks and other documentation as per departmental guidelines.
• Achieve objectives in a manner consistent with the BMS Behaviors.
• Lead or contribute to writing and presentation of findings in the form of posters, publications, and oral presentations (internal and external).

Requirements

• Operational and theoretical understanding of Mass Spectrometry, size exclusion chromatography, and reverse phase chromatography.
• Basic understanding of protein conjugation chemistry is required; experience is a plus.
• Proficient in scientific writing with good verbal communication skills and the ability to independently interpret and deliver results.
• Ability to effectively work across levels and functions with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of related industry experience
• Master’s Degree with 2+ years of related industry experience
• Ph.D. in related field with 0+ years of related industry experience

Pay

Princeton, NJ, US: $100,330 - $121,571 (full-time employee basis). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
