Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on in vivo work primarily mice, possibly rats and run concurrent studies
- Design experiments and execute studies, working alongside senior scientists and associate scientists
- Generate high-quality experimental data and ensure studies are organized and prepared
- Supervise/coordinate associate scientists tasks/time as needed for study execution.
- Analyze and communicate results to project teams and the broader department
- Understand the biology of supported projects and contribute to project progression
- Participate in occasional weekend/evening dosing rotations as required.
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree
- OR Masters degree and 2 years of Immunology or related experience
- OR Bachelors degree and 4 years of Immunology or related experience
- Strong understanding of Immunology and Inflammation biology and principles
- Willingness and curiosity to learn and explore new areas of research
- Experience executing in vivo preclinical respiratory disease models, including asthma (OVA, HDM), COPD (Elastase, smoke extract), Bleomycin fibrosis (i.t.,i.d.,s.c.), respiratory virus infection (PR8) models preferred
- Experience with preclinical inflammatory disease models, including colitis, lupus, RA, PBC important
- Significant Experience with lung function measurements (FlexiVent, Plethysmography), imaging (mCT), and inhaled drug delivery preferred
- Hands-on experience with in vivo techniques including dosing route of administration (i.v.,i.p.,p.o.,i.n., i.t.,r.o.,i.d.,s.c.), bleeds (r.o., cheek, tail), necropsy (organ collection (intestine/colon, lung,lymphnodes, spleen, liver, kidney, skin), cardiac bleed, lung BAL collection)
- Hands-on experience in cellular, biochemical, histological, and molecular biology assay techniques (i.e. ELISA, MSD, multi-color flow cytometry, quantitative RT-PCR) preferred
- Computer literacy, especially proficiency with GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, accurate & timely recordkeeping and data analysis are essential
- Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement
- Demonstrated experience in and understanding of pharmacology with application using in vivo models of inflammation/Immunology
- Experience working on project teams leading in vivo contributions
- Ability to work in a flexible team-oriented environment. Weekend and evening work may be required.
