Scientist – Cell-Based Assay Development (In Vitro Services) We are seeking an experienced scientist to lead the development, optimization, and execution of cell-based assays supporting client research and testing programs. This is a scientifically rigorous, client-facing role that combines hands-on assay development with study leadership and regulatory compliance within a GLP/cGMP-regulated CRO environment. This position is ideal for a motivated scientist with a strong cell biology or immunology background who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting and is ready to take ownership of complex in vitro programs from inception through final reporting. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, optimize, validate, and implement in vitro and cell-based assays to support diverse client projects across therapeutic and research programsWork with a broad range of cellular models, including primary cells, immortalized cell lines, and transfected or overexpressing systemsApply expertise across a wide range of techniques, including cell culture, transfection, gene and protein expression analysis, pathway characterization, ELISA, ELISpot, cytokine analysis, and immunological assaysLead studies as Study Director (GLP) or Lead Analyst (cGMP), serving as the primary scientific point of contact from project scoping and proposal development through data analysis and final report deliveryProvide scientific, experimental, and regulatory guidance to both clients and internal cross-functional teamsIdentify opportunities to develop new testing capabilities and support the expansion of the organization's in vitro service offeringsEnsure full compliance with GLP/cGMP requirements, laboratory SOPs, and applicable regulatory standardsMaintain thorough, accurate scientific documentation in accordance with good documentation practicesCollaborate effectively across departments while maintaining clear written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders Qualifications Required: M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a closely related field (B.S. candidates with substantial industry experience will be considered)Strong hands-on experience with cell culture, cellular assay development, molecular biology techniques, and immunological assaysDemonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and troubleshoot complex scientific challengesExcellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skillsWillingness to work flexible hours and safely handle hazardous laboratory materials as required Preferred Experience in a regulated GLP and/or cGMP laboratory environmentBSL-2 laboratory operations experienceFunctional assay development experience (receptor activation, signaling pathways, cell viability, potency assays, etc.)Prior experience as a GLP Study Director or Lead Analyst in a CRO settingFamiliarity with regulatory submissions or dossier support (IND, BLA, 510(k), etc.) Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hercules, CA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $48.07/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
