We are seeking a dedicated Scientist II for a 1-year contract role (with potential for permanent hire) to perform hands-on experimentation, operate advanced instrumentation, and drive active research under the direct mentorship of senior PhD scientists. The position is based in Hillsboro, Oregon, is a contract role, and requires a Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run experiments utilizing high-voltage power supplies, ultra-high vacuum systems, ammeters, and liquid nitrogen.
• Collect and evaluate experimental data, including thermal imaging pyrometry, I/V curve data, and brightness measurements.
• Operate Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMs) and Focused Ion Beam (FIB) systems for surface analysis, imaging, and milling.
• Assist in developing, testing, and characterizing laboratory data acquisition and automated instrument control software.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair specialized laboratory equipment in collaboration with senior scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

Required:

• B.S. in Biological Sciences, Molecular biology or related field.
• 1-4 years of hands-on laboratory research experience.
• Demonstrated experience setting up, running, and troubleshooting laboratory experiments.

Preferred:

• Experience with computer simulations, software control systems, or data analysis tools.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $33 to $35 per hour.

Schedule

Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
