About the role

Work Location: Pleasanton, CA (Onsite)

Interview process: Phone screen followed by an in-person interview.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and monitor laboratory experiments using established and published procedures, with technical and theoretical understanding.
  • Make recommendations to resolve problems encountered during experimental procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental results.
  • Summarize experimental results and review conclusions with supervisor/project leader.
  • Communicate results of experiments in the form of reports and presentations.
  • Keep supervisor/project leader informed of project status, particularly significant findings and critical problem areas.
  • Perform work according to established internal safety guidelines and external regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA).
  • Analyze experimental data using data analysis software and/or quantitative methods.
  • Form conclusions and provide/document process improvements.
  • Use technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.
  • Present findings at internal meetings.
  • Maintain electronic notebook documentation, ensuring methods and results are recorded timely, accurately, and consistently.
  • Participate in routine lab maintenance, lab safety, ISO, and QSR implementation.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to instrumentation.
  • Plan and execute own work with general instructions.
  • Stay informed of trends and developments in area of scientific responsibility.
  • Collaborate with individuals or teams outside of immediate functional area or RMD.
  • Resolve problems of limited scope and complexity using broad concepts of a particular field or specialization.
  • Analyze alternative approaches to solve problems or develop new perspectives on existing solutions.
  • Act as a lead for assigned projects or team.

Requirements

  • Experience working with amino acids.
  • Comfortable discussing failures, lessons learned, and problem-solving approaches.
  • ddPCR (Digital Droplet PCR) experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field (required).
  • Master’s Degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with 5 years of relevant industry experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency in designing and executing relevant laboratory experimentation and determining next steps within the context of overall project goals.
