About the role
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Health Policy & Organization, is seeking a Scientist I for their Home Visiting Team within the Applied Evaluation Assessment Collaborative (AEAC). The AEAC Home Visiting Team provides direct training, technical assistance, data analysis, and continuous quality improvement initiatives while improving program outcomes and promoting best practices.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation and monitoring of evidence-based home visiting models (e.g., Parents as Teachers, HIPPY, Nurse Family Partnership).
- Design and support evaluation activities related to child, family, and system outcomes.
- Analyze program data to identify trends, strengths, and opportunities for improvement; assess outcomes, and implementation fidelity.
- Maintain primary responsibility for ensuring data is collected correctly and in a timely manner for yearly reports on participant demographics, service utilization, and benchmarks.
- Interpret and translate research findings into actionable guidance for program leadership and staff.
- Prepare internal reports, summaries, and dashboards for leadership and program staff.
- Lead or support CQI processes, including Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycles and fidelity monitoring.
- Develop dashboards, briefs, and reports for internal learning and external reporting.
- Support data quality assurance and documentation practices.
- Aid programs in aligning practice with ADECE and MIECHV expectations.
- Coordinate and provide technical assistance for all MIECHV Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Monitor fidelity to evidence-based models and identify areas for improvement.
- Direct, design, and deliver a continuous quality improvement plan, to include learning sessions, data analysis, and coaching.
- Provide data-informed recommendations to leadership to strengthen program performance.
- Support development of evaluation and reporting materials for grants and audits.
- Collaborate with program leadership, supervisors, and home visiting staff.
- Serve as a liaison between research, policy, and practice.
- Participate in cross-site or statewide learning communities as appropriate.
- Collaborate with supervisors, leadership, and direct service staff to support program improvement.
- Participate in internal meetings, learning sessions, and planning activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR M.D. and Master's degree.
- Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience required.
- Preferences: Master's degree or higher in a related field strongly preferred.
- Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Public Health, Psychology, Social Science, or Evaluation Experience.
- Familiarity with continuous quality improvement or implementation science practices.
- Early intervention experience strongly preferred.
- Home-based intervention helpful.
- Experience with data analysis, program evaluation, research, and quality improvement.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and health systems is a plus.
Qualifications
- Strong written communication skills for reports and internal documentation.
- Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally.
- Skilled at independent judgment, application of specialized knowledge, and analytical decision making.
- Able to coordinate multiple moving pieces; can manage multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of MIECHV-funded or ADECE-funded programs.
- An extensive CQI is needed to be successful in this role.
- Knowledge and experience working within the early childhood system are helpful.
- Skilled in the health development of parents, children, and youth with special needs.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Must be self-motivated and organized.
Benefits
Annual Salary Range: $63,125 - $95,000 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)
