Scientist I

Position: Scientist 1 Location: Sparks, MD Duration: 12+ Months Contract Total Hours/week: 40.00 pay rate:$20-30/hr 1st Shift Must Have Someone with microbiology experience especially working in a micro lab and making media. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of professional experience with the following: Capable of creating and preparing microbiological media in a GLP/GMP environment Trained in/experience working with bacterial cultures Skilled in the use of aseptic technique Capable of evaluating test results and drawing conclusions Efficient use of scales, balances and pH meters Experience in preparation of microbiological media The candidate will take direction from Scientist in the group of testing and other tasks. May include preparation of microbiological media, inspection of prepared media for cosmetic or other defects and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years in a professional biotech environment, although education and academic experience may be substituted. B.S. in Microbiology or a related Life Science is preferred but not required. Additional Skills/duties Basic Knowledge in a broad range of laboratory techniques; pH measurement, weighing of materials, microbiology lab skills is preferredHistory of self motivation with a background in biological lab scienceExperience in handling biological samples and knowledge of GLPDemonstrated verbal and written communication skills in a team environment as well as a desire to work within a teamCapable of readily identifying and analyzing problem
