Scientist - I (Assistant)

This 12‑month contract position (with potential for extension or conversion) is based in West Point, PA.

Responsibilities

• Execute high‑throughput process development (HTPD) experiments using BSL‑1 and BSL‑2 biological agents and viruses.
• Operate and maintain laboratory automation equipment, including Tecan and Hamilton liquid‑handling systems.
• Perform cell‑based assays, biochemical testing, and HPLC analysis to support process development and screening experiments.
• Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, and cell culture media using aseptic techniques.
• Analyze, track, and report experimental data while maintaining accurate laboratory records in accordance with GMP requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• At least one year of general laboratory experience, including six months of aseptic techniques and cell culture experience (preferred).
• Experience with cell‑based assays, imaging, flow cytometry, biochemical testing, or HPLC (preferred).
• Familiarity with laboratory automation systems such as Tecan, Hamilton, ÄKTA, or similar computer‑controlled equipment (a plus).
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel formulas and linked spreadsheets; programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C++, or Visual Basic (a plus).
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining accurate documentation.

Pay

$28–32.14 per hour.

Schedule

12‑month assignment with possibility for extension or conversion based on performance and budget.
