Responsibilities
- Support R&D and Development Engineering work focused on polymeric, dielectric, adhesive, and coating materials for advanced semiconductor packaging applications.
- Perform hands-on laboratory activities including polymer synthesis, formulation, dilution, filtration, purification, sample preparation, and experimental batch preparation.
- Prepare test samples, coating solutions, formulations, and lab-scale materials with strong attention to accuracy, consistency, and safe chemical handling.
- Support experiment execution under the direction of senior scientists and engineers, including following experimental plans, recording observations, and escalating issues when needed.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and analytical tools used for synthesis, formulation, filtration, characterization, and material testing.
- Conduct routine and non-routine material characterization using methods such as GPC / SEC, HPLC, UPLC, NMR, FTIR, UV-Vis, solids content, titration, viscosity, density, surface tension, particle size analysis, DSC, TGA, microscopy, SEM, and film or coating evaluation, as applicable.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and summarize experimental data to support project decisions, troubleshooting, process learning, and technical recommendations.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records including notebooks, batch records, formulation details, raw material information, test results, sample tracking, inventory records, and method updates.
- Aid in sample labeling, packaging, shipment, receipt of materials, chemical inventory, raw material ordering, and general lab logistics needed for timely project execution.
- Assist with process optimization, scale-up support, technology transfer, root cause investigations, customer sample support, manufacturing support, and other project-related lab activities.
- Follow all site safety, EHS, chemical handling, waste management, and laboratory operating procedures while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Collaborate effectively with R&D, Development Engineering, Analytical, Quality, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional partners to support project execution and timely delivery of materials and data.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Hands-on laboratory experience in formulation development, materials development, polymer synthesis, electronic materials, coatings, adhesives, dielectric materials, or related R&D laboratory work.
- Demonstrated ability to safely handle wet chemistry, solvents, monomers, polymers, formulations, and hazardous chemicals while following site EHS requirements and laboratory procedures.
- Experience operating standard laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation; experience with GPC / SEC, HPLC, UPLC, NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, rheology, chromatography, particle size analysis, microscopy, SEM, viscosity, density, titration, or related testing is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures, document work clearly, maintain accurate records, and execute experiments with repeatability and discipline.
- Ability to organize data, summarize results, troubleshoot experimental issues, and communicate observations clearly to scientists, engineers, project leaders, and cross-functional partners.
- Highly motivated, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D laboratory environment with changing priorities and multiple active projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience with sample logistics, chemical inventory, raw material ordering, sample shipment, laboratory organization, or project support activities is a plus.
- Familiarity with JMP, Minitab, statistical analysis tools, structured problem solving, or Six Sigma methods is a plus.
